We bought our first Arabian in January 1982. She was a little hairy..... but you could see the beauty in there. We knew that she was the horse we wanted. Mutaar's Buffy moved to our house. seemed to be what we were looking for. I don't think we even knew the difference at the that time between a "regular" horse...and an Arabian. They were just equine... But it wouldn't take us long to see what we had. It was then that I found out my friend Kathy had an Arabian too. Just didn't know the difference.... We found a yearling stud colt... that needed a good home. So we borrowed a trailer and off we went to pick him up.... never thinking that he might never have been in a trailer before... Yep...You got it....NEVER He tried to climb out the side door.... have you ever tried to push a frantic colt back through that door.... it's not easy but we did it. So down the road we started.... didn't get very far until we had to go back and get this scared little colt out of the feeder area where he had jumped in... so down the road we went again.... and again...and again... Before we were back to the main road... I was riding in the back with him on the other side of the trailer. Not a great ride sitting on the pallets that were stored over there. But my "boy" needed someone with him... so I rode from Upton home...cramped.... He did like my singing....(he is the only one that ever has) Sailor was added to our herd of 2. He is such a sweetie... I always told him that he would live nice.... or he would live different. He to this day is a sweetheart. She lived just down the road. Addabbo's Blu Geni (Jean for short) a feisty little mare with a heart of gold. Every day she was getting out and coming to visit. She liked Sailor very much. So after taking her home day after day..... I asked her owner if she was for sale....and she was. I think they were tired of coming to get her. She did enticed this now 2 year old colt to climb over the 8 foot railings. After he got up from falling on his nose.... he wondered why he thought he should do that.... ahhh the invention of electric fences... In 1985 Lazes Hajji Sheik (Rooster) was born.... he is so beautiful....and he listened when his momma told him to get on the other side of her... he has alway listened well. We lost Buffy in 1985....and the old age of 12..... went out one morning and found her... she was fine the night before... I had looked at a beautiful mare just the day before. I just couldn't think about another horse at the time..... but a month later Katy moved in. In 1986 Lazes Taaj Ameer (Dewey) was born.... he wasn't even out yet when he was talking... he didn't listen when his momma told him to stay away from people... he was a beautiful red roan....a true roan. I sold him and he has since been sold... so I have no idea where he is... I do hope he has a good home. a beautiful chestnut with flaxen mane and tail.... sure is a beautiful horse. He was also sold... but just lives down the road. Then in 1988 we had 2 foals.... Makkaars Velvet (Velvet) and Katys Moon Shadow (Shadow) they are both still with us...... And last but not least....Katys Night Wind (KC) you might be wondering what the KC stands for.... it has two meanings...Katy's Creep... and Killer Crash.... when he was little he would run so fast he couldn't stop quick enough to avoid running into things (crash) killer was one day he ran over a sandpiper... and it scared him so much that he had to continue killing it... he has out grown both of those traits.... at least 10 years or more....it's good to look back and remember. The good friends we have made... and the ones that have gone to greener pastures... Memories are the greatest gift GOD gave us. Photos are great memories.
